A shocking truth that I care about is that being who you are and expressing yourself in your own way is beautiful. I created this poem about my journey with self-growth.
Hope I was the shiniest diamond in the cave I was so strong it took over a week for them to mine me out I was crystal clear shimmering brighter than the North Star With an indestructible exterior Now I am the jewel of the sea A beautiful pearl That came from nothing but a grain of sand Lucky to have survived, I am rarest of them all If you find me Keep me around You will continue to find buried treasure beyond my beauty I used to be like a fire blazing with fierceness and fury No one could come close without me burning them everywhere I went destruction followed Now I am like the earth Humble, and calm I give to all that I can Without expecting anything in return My natural beauty Like no other in the universe I used to be like the ocean Everlasting life underneath my surface Waves Like feelings So powerful The constant uncontrollable crashing Of who I am and what I should be Now I am the sun So bright and sure of itself Always showing people the way And bringing light and life to everyday I am content in every way Although sometimes I get too hot I always find a way to shine without causing pain
I choose this idea because I have recently been seeing myself grow from being a negative person into a more positive one.
I hope to communicate that even if you’re in a rut, there is always hope to become better.
I think I was successful in doing this because even if i don’t help anyone with this, i have helped myself, so it is worth it.
If i could do it again, I would probably work on making my message a little more clear
Another idea that i would like to explore through shocking art is the freedom of expression without limits.
